the call.

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word
And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry
I'll come back when you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war
Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes
You'll come back when they call you
No need to say goodbye
You'll come back when they call you
No need to say goodbye

This song has spoken volumes into my life as I am in such a transition and waiting period. I am between worlds right now. I have a little over two months left of college. It is the weirdest feeling in world to even think about leaving Martin. God has shown his faithfulness over and over and over again by placing me here, and I couldn't be more grateful that He has. He changed my heart through serving overseas in the Philippines for two summers, and now I am ready to be back! The lyrics of this song depict exactly what is going on amidst the two worlds that capture my heart. I am waiting right now for the confirmation of that initial feeling to turn into a battle cry as I await notice of acceptance into a midwifery program overseas. I should know any day now--even though I have been saying that for the past two weeks. I'm praying the the Lord renews in me a patient spirit as I trust in His timing in the overall picture of a will centered around His glory.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
Rescue me from my enemies, LORD,
for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
   for you are my God;
may your good Spirit
   lead me on level ground.
-Psalm 143:8-10

  1. Great post Brittany. I'll definitely be praying for you! So many are leaving after this semester...and in just a year from now, I'll be leaving to go somewhere (where, I have no idea, lol) ... Whatever the Lord has in store for you will be marvelous! I, in a way, had to "step out of the boat" by deciding to come to Martin 3 years ago, as everyone I knew was going to MTSU, but the Lord has worked so much here at Martin and I'm so glad I stayed! =)
Remember, all things work together for a greater good, and for His glory (Romans 8:28). We just need to trust in Him and not lean on what we understand (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Keep on keepin' on for Yeshua/ Jesus Christ, HaMashiach Nagid, the Messiah the King! And keep looking up! (Luke 21:28).
